Studio Bell to Host Inaugural Canadian Music Hall
of Fame Ceremony

announced that the
inaugural multiple-
induction Canadian
Music Hall of Fame cer-
emony will take place
at Studio Bell, home
COREY HART RECEIVING HIS CANADIAN MUSIC HALL OF of the National Music
FAME TROPHY FROM SARAH MCLACHLAN Centre, in Calgary on
Oct. 27, 2019. This first-time event will be presented by Music Canada.
This celebration of Canadian music will honour four new
inductees into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame with a fifth to be
recognized during the JUNO Awards broadcast on March 15, 2020, in
Saskatoon, SK. The inductees will be announced in September 2019.
“Canadian artists have made such a meaningful impact on music
and our culture both at home and internationally, and they deserve
to be recognized and celebrated,” says Allan Reid, president and CEO
of CARAS/The JUNO Awards and MusiCounts. “By expanding the
number of inductees in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, we’re able
to honour even more iconic Canadian artists each year.”

Stingray Gives $525K for Classical
Music Residencies at Studio Bell
The National Music Centre (NMC) in Calgary will receive a
$525,000 contribution from music, media, and technology com-
pany Stingray over the next seven years to support classical music
residencies at Studio Bell.
A handful of artists have already been selected to help launch
the program over the second half of 2019. They include Mon-
treal-based post-classical pianist Jean-Michel Blais, celebrated
Calgary flautist Jiajia Li, and Edmonton musician Anders Muskens,
who specializes in historical keyboards.
The Stingray Classical Music Program is an offshoot of the NMC’s
Artist in Residence program designed to feed and nurture artistic
creativity and technical innovation by providing artists at various
levels of professional development with uninterrupted time and
space, and the use of NMC’s collection and expertise, to create new
and innovative works. The Stingray Classical Music Program offers
access to three historic recording consoles and over 300 musical
artifacts, spanning 450 years of music technology and innovation.
