Paul Shaver Joins CMRRA as New President The Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency (CMRRA) has named Paul Shaver as its new presi- dent. Shaver previously served as VP at Nielsen Entertainment Canada, where he was instrumental in the launch of the Music Connect platform in Canada that provides improved data transparency to pub- lishers and labels. The CMRRA says Shaver’s appointment reflects a focus on refining and expanding the services it provides the publishing community. Prior to Nielsen, Shaver held various executive roles at Virgin Music Canada, EMI Music Canada, Universal Music Canada, and Open Road Recordings and RGK Entertainment. PAUL SHAVER CHILLIWACK ZELLER ANDY KIM COWBOY JUNKIES BOBBY CURTOLA Andy Kim, Bobby Curtola, Chilliwack & Cowboy Junkies Get Inducted into Canadian Music Hall of Fame On Oct. 27 th at a ceremony at the National Music Centre in Calgary, Andy Kim, Bobby Curtola (posthumously), Chilliwack, and Cowboy Junkies were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. 14 CANADIAN MUSICIAN JUNO Award-winner Andy Kim got his start working at the iconic Brill Building in New York at a young age, where he went on to craft major hits including “Baby I Love You” and “Sugar, Sugar.” Years later in 1974, he released the hit song “Rock Me Gently.” Bobby Curtola’s career began when he was just 16, rising to fame with his hit single “Fortune Teller,” and then receiving the first Canadian registered gold album. Chilliwack have been a staple of Canadi- an rock radio since the early 1970s and are best known for their classic hits “Lonesome Mary,” “Fly at Night,” and “My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone).” Since 1988, Cowboy Junkies have been one of the most-loved groups of the alt- country movement, with their album The Trinity Session considered a classic of the genre.
