HOT GEAR Propellerhead Reason 10 Propellerhead Software has released Reason 10, which the company says is its largest update yet. Reason 10 features two new synthesizers, three new live-sounding organic instrument devices, an improved acoustic piano, creative modulation device, and 3 GB of drum loops and samples. The two new synthesizers are the Europa Shapeshifting Synthesizer and Grain Sample Manipulator. Europa is a dynamically- generated wavetable synthesizer and users can apply a wide range of modulation to the waveform itself and add advanced spectral filtering, harmonics processing, and draw custom waveforms. Grain provides granular synthesis for Reason users with sonic power and an intuitive interface. In collaboration with Soundiron, Reason 10 includes three new sampled instrument collections. Klang Tuned Percussion includes 10 sampled melodic percussion instruments. Pangea World Instruments includes 11 world instruments, and Humana Vocal Ensemble is a collection of choirs and solo vocals. Reason 10 also includes Propellerhead’s Radical Piano instrument and Synchronous Effect Modulator. Waves Torque Drum Tone Shifter Plug-In Waves Audio has released the Torque Drum Tone Shifter plug-in. Waves Torque can enhance and re-pitch the tone of snares, toms, kicks, or an entire kit with natural-sounding results. The plug-in is a precision drum tone shifter that will help users salvage mistuned drums, pitch them to a specific key, and adjust their tone. This can be done without retriggering or replacing, with- out the sonic artifacts introduced by traditional pitch shifters, and without losing body, timbre, resonance, or attack.
