up over a million streams on Spotify in three months , they ’ re certainly popular , but they ’ re not household names . But how often in rap ( or any genre ) have the most vocally and lyrically gifted artists also been the most famous ? That said , how big do they want to be ? “ As big as possible . Larger than life , man ” Metz says instantly . “ But that ’ s another thing I wanted to say is , like , everybody thinks when you get in the music business , you get that overnight , movie montage , come-up bullshit , but that never happens . It ’ s a five- to 10-year grind , you know what I mean ? There ’ s a very , very rare few – I would say , one to two percent , that get lucky with one song and then capitalize off it – but for the rest of us , it ’ s a five- to 10-year grind .”
Well , whether it feels like it to them or not , they ’ ve been grinding for five years now – and actually more given the years working on their craft before dropping the first album . They had a plan from the start about what they wanted to be , and they ’ ve stuck to it and continue to build it . Snotty Nose Rez Kids know who they are , where they come from , and are rightfully proud of what they ’ re building .
“ We ’ ve always been proud of where we came from . We never really ever wanted to make music to bring people down or make people feel like shit . So , if we do make a song that ’ s deep and heavy , we always try to end on a positive note . We want to leave people who are listening to our music feeling good about themselves and feeling good at the end of the song , or feeling good at the end of the album ,” says Nyce . “ It ’ s always about bringing people up and not making them feel so heavy . So yeah , for us , that ’ s what it ’ s been .”
Let me check in like this , while I write from a plane , Raise my glass to my past with champagne for the pain
I been thinking ‘ bout change and I ’ m emotionally drained , but you going through it too so I try not to complain
And my flights been delayed for like 500 days , and I just seen another post about our children ’ s remains
They just wanna go home and dog I ’ m thinking the same ! I got love for the city but I ’ m sick of the rain
