Pulsar Audio 1178 - FET Compressor Plug-In
Pulsar Audio has released the 1178 - FET Compressor plug-in .
The original UREI 1178 is a now rare , iconic , and expensive unit in recording studio mythos . It could provide a cleaner and more versatile sound than its older brother , the 1176 . The 1178 has been used by many legendary producers , including Chris Lord-Alge , Bob Clearmountain , Yvan Bing , Nigel Godrich , and many more .
Pulsar ’ s software recreates the original hardware in great detail to achieve its tonal colour and compression character . But they ’ ve also taken the Pulsar 1178 further , adding a number of features one would expect from a modern , versatile tool , including : a full sidechain EQ ; four types of saturation for more distinctive tone ; comprehensive digital metering to control the dynamics ; mid-side processing ; look-ahead and look behind options ; presets from world-class sound engineers ; external side-chaining ; smart and resizable graphic interface ; and up to eight-times oversampling .

Roland Aerophone Pro Digital Wind Instrument
Roland has released the Aerophone Pro , a new flagship model in the company ’ s Aerophone series of digital wind instruments . It combines a number of design refinements and premium components with enhanced playability and a sonic palette from Roland ’ s SuperNATURAL and ZEN-Core sound engines .
In developing the Aerophone Pro , Roland says it consulted expert players for suggestions on improving the original Aerophone models . That feedback informed improvements to the instrument ’ s look , feel , sound , and playability . The Aerophone Pro ’ s thin , ergonomic design is easier to hold for a more confident playing experience . Controls are easier to reach , and the streamlined body and aluminum accents are meant to give an “ understated-yet-classy presence .” The discrete OLED screen provides quick visual access to various parameters and can be viewed at any angle and in any kind of lighting .
The stock fingering on the Aerophone Pro is the same as an acoustic sax and includes a high-F # key . Multiple user-customizable fingerings are supported as well , and configurable controls for both hands and a MIDI input for footswitches expand performance options .

D ’ Angelico Excel 59 Hollow-Body Electric Guitar
D ’ Angelico has released the Excel 59 , which is designed to be oldschool with a modern spin on a John D ’ Angelico original designed in 1959 .
The Excel 59 ’ s 16-in . -wide , 1.75-in . -deep , fully-hollow-body paired with an ebony fingerboard offers woody tone and crisp articulation . It features custom Seymour Duncan Great Dane P90s , which are based on earlier dog-ear P90s from the 1940s and exclusive to D ’ Angelico . These pickups are designed to offer a large range of tones , from warm and wooly to big and brash . These features are paired with vintageinspired details , like a chickenhead selector and cupcake knobs . The Excel 59 is available in vintage natural , viola , and black dog finishes with a D ’ Angelico shield tremolo .
