Alanis Morissette to be Inducted into Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame ( CSHF ) has announced that seven-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette as its newest inductee . Morissette , known for her no-holds-barred autobiographical songwriting , has led the way for a new crop of songwriters since the release of her iconoclastic album Jagged Little Pill in 1995 . Her nine studio albums and three live albums have sold over 60 million copies .
The CSHF has also revealed its first round of performers who will take part in the tribute on Sept . 24 , with additional special guests and inductees to be announced in the coming months . The billing to-date includes multiplatinum singer-songwriter and seven-time Juno winner Serena Ryder ; four-time Juno-winning artist Jessie Reyez ; and , on the heels of winning four Juno Awards , Montreal ’ s Charlotte Cardin .
Following the gala celebration , Morrisette will be honoured at the CSHF ’ s permanent home at
ALANIS MORISSETTE the National Music Centre in Calgary , which features a distinguished catalogue of inducted songs that fans can listen to in addition to displays , exclusive artifacts and one-of-a-kind memorabilia celebrating Canada ’ s greatest songwriters and inductees .

Music supervisor Cody Partridge Takes Home 4 Canadian Sync Awards
On June 9 th , the Guild of Music Supervisors , Canada ( GMSC ) and Canadian Music Week ( CMW ) revealed the winners for the 2022 Canadian Sync Awards .
Cody Partridge , president of Pear Tree Music Supervision , was the evening ’ s biggest winner , taking home four awards for his work on Letterkenny and more .
Hosted by Tara Slone , the Canadian Sync Awards were held in front of a packed house at the El Mocambo and included performances by Monowhales , Emanuel , and Mauvey . The Canadian Sync Awards celebrate the craft of music supervision in filmed media in Canada with the presentation of 14 awards , as voted by the public and members of the Guild of Music Supervisors , Canada .
Emily Steinwall ’ s “ Welcome to the Garden ” Wins SOCAN Songwriting Prize
A public vote has selected “ Welcome to the Garden ,” written and performed by Emily Steinwall of Toronto , as the winner of the 17 th annual SOCAN Songwriting Prize . For winning , Steinwall received a $ 5,000 cash prize , a Yamaha Workstation , and a $ 500 gift card from Long & McQuade .
First recognized and celebrated as an emerging composer , saxophone player , flautist , and bandleader , Steinwall is no stranger to the spotlight . Before releasing her debut concept album , Welcome to the Garden , Steinwall graced the stage as a back-up singer for Alessia Cara .
The SOCAN Songwriting Prize is the only major songwriting award in Canada where fans vote to determine the winner . Ten outstanding songs created by Canadian songwriters over the past year are nominated by a panel of 15 music industry experts . The public is then invited to vote once a day for their favourite song for one week to determine the winner .
SOCAN plays no role in determining the nominees or winners , apart from ensuring that they meet eligibility criteria .
Top People , Venues & Companies Honoured at Canadian Live Music Industry Awards
Canadian Music Week and Canadian Live Music Association ( CLMA ) held the annual Canadian Live Music Industry Awards on June 11 , 2022 , at the El Mocambo in Toronto , celebrating the live music sector in Canada across 19 categories . Hosted by Jully Black , who also performed , the CLMAs included additional live performances by Sam Drysdale , Preston Pablo , Rêve , and Nobro . The Canadian Live Music Industry Awards also acknowledged outstanding leadership and contributions to the live music sector through the following awards : Excellence in Music “ City ” Development to the City of London , ON ; the Lifetime Achievement Award to Jeff Cohen of Collective Concerts ; the Legends of Live Award to Jully Black ; and The Canadian Live Music Industry Awards “ Unsung Hero ” Award to Susie Grynol , president and CEO of the Hotel Association of Canada and Beth Potter , president and CEO , Tourism Industry Association of Canada as co-Leaders of the Coalition of Hardest Hit Businesses .
