2022 Polaris Music Prize Long List Revealed The Polaris Music Prize has revealed its 40-album long list . Among the nominees are well-known acts like Arcade Fire and The Weeknd , as well as rising Canadian stars such as Backxwash and Haviah Mighty , both of whom have won the Polaris Music Prize in recent years . Other groups and artists to make the list include Snotty Nose Rez Kids , PUP , The Halluci Nation , SATE , and more .
In total , 223 albums were considered for the long list by the 197-member jury this season . This year ’ s long list was revealed at the Numbers event space in Toronto with a video directed by Daniel Tal and produced by Vox Future . This was the first public Polaris-related gathering in more than two years .
The 10-album short list will be unveiled live on July 14 th .

The Polaris Music Prize awards $ 50,000 to the artist who creates the Canadian album of the year , judged solely on artistic merit , without consideration for genre or record sales . The nine other nominated acts whose albums make the 2022 short list will receive $ 3,000 each courtesy of Slaight Music .
