Music PEI Announces 2023 Award Nominees Music PEI has announced the nominees for the 2023 Music PEI Awards . These awards recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions of Prince Edward Island ’ s talented musicians and industry professionals . The awards are adjudicated by a selection of independent music industry professionals both regionally and internationally .
This year , the leading artist with seven nominations goes to rising star Lawrence Maxwell . Maxwell had nominations in every top category including FACTOR Album of the Year , SOCAN Songwriter of the Year , Lennox Island First Nation Music Video of the Year , Whitecap Entertainment Entertainer of the Year and Holland College Musician of the Year . His album Ballad of Miles was also nominated for the Caledonia House Roots Recording
LAWRENCE MAXWELL of the Year and The
Buzz Album Art of the Year . This year , there is four artists with four nominations each : Alicia Toner , Andrew Waite , Lennie Gallant , and The Burning Hell .
The public vote category is Whitecap Entertainer of the Year . Nominees in this category are Alicia Toner , Andrew , Waite , Cory Gallant , Lawrence Maxwell , and Lennie Gallant .
The winners will be announced during the 2023 Music PEI Week , which will be held March 8-12 , 2023 . Tickets can be purchased through the Music PEI website .

Canadian Music Week Announces 2023 Dates & New Location Canadian Music Week ( CMW ) has announced the 41 st annual festival will return in-person from June 5-10 , 2023 in Toronto . The CMW Conference , Canada ’ s largest and longest-running industry conference , will include the CMW Music Summit Conference from June 8-10 , and Radiodays North America on June 8-9 , at the Westin Harbour Castle .
The CMW music festival will present over 200 bands at 20 + venues between June 5-10 , 2023 , in downtown Toronto . While the first 100 performers have already been announced , artists are still welcome to apply to the festival now until February 23 at https :// cmw . net / festival / apply /.
The Live Music Awards will return to Canadian Music Week , as well as the 22nd Annual Jim Beam INDIE Awards . The Canadian Music Week Music Summit Conference from June 8-10 provides a platform for domestic and international delegates to exchange ideas , explore trends , and make meetings connections .
Radiodays Europe will be bringing this prestigious event to North America , in association with Canadian Music Week , from June 8-9 . Keynote speakers and expert panelists from around the world will discuss and strategize all aspects of over the air and digital broadcasting . From broadcast to podcast , everything is on the table : executive leadership , workplace diversity , innovation , technology , talent , programming , marketing and how to grow audio revenue will be on the agenda over the two-day event . CRTC Unveils Revised Commercial Radio Policy The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission ( CRTC ) has updated its commercial radio policy to better support Canadian artists and provide flexibility to help the radio industry remain competitive in a changing environment .
To support Canadian artists , the CRTC is upholding requirements for Canadian content and French-language vocal music , ensuring that Canadian and French-language vocal music requirements can no longer be circumvented through montages of popular non-Canadian songs , setting an expectation that commercial stations play at least 5 % of songs from emerging Canadian artists , and launching a consultation that will examine the approach to Canadian content development ( CCD ) contributions by commercial radio broadcasters and ensure that funding reaches diverse initiatives .
To provide more flexibility to the radio industry , the CRTC is moving towards new criteria to determine if a song is Canadian , and refining some content categories that will broaden the eligible songs that stations can play to meet their Canadian content requirements ; work-
