RIP : Boss ’ Jeff Slingluff Passes Away at 55
Jeff Slingluff , Boss ’ s former strategic product manager for the U . S ., passed away aged 55 on Sept . 9 th , following COVID-19 co mplications . Slingluff was extensively involved in product content and trade show booth design , dealer training and support , and video content for Boss .
After joining Boss in 2016 , Slingluff was quickly integrated into the product development process , consisting of new product ideas , conceptual designs , visual and user interface design , and sound design . His unique philosophy in how to craft a product ’ s look and feel , combined with an intuitive user interface , contributed to the success of Boss products ranging from the Katana and Nextone Amplifier series to the WAZA-TAE Tube Amp Expander and RE- 202 Space Echo .
“ I loved Jeff ’ s smile , positive attitude , and way of thinking ,” says Yoshi Ikegami , who served as Boss ’ s president from 2002 – 2022 . “ I loved to talk to him — he was always optimistic . Conversations with Jeff gave me lots of inspiration and hints for

new product ideas . He supported and helped me and Boss so much over the last six years .”

Slingluff was a graduate of the Musicians Institute , and before joining Boss , he lent his skills to Alesis , Line 6 , and Sound Machine LLC . Through his work on products like the POD series , DL4 Delay Modeler , and a library of algorithms and models , Slingluff shaped and honed tones that became the foundation for gold and platinum-selling albums , world stadium tours , and home productions . Working closely with Line 6 ’ s engineers , Slingluff helped pioneer , evolve , and refine the techniques of modeling that have become integral to many modern guitar amplifiers , effects processors , and plug-ins . Slingluff ’ s sound design talents were also used in multiple plug-ins for Universal Audio , as well as the first digital pedals for Dunlop Manufacturing and its MXR brand .

Canadian Mint Honours Iconic Jazz Pianist Oscar Peterson with Commemorative $ 1 Coin
The Royal Canadian Mint has honoured one of the greatest musicians the world has ever seen by issuing a new one-dollar commemorative coin celebrating the life and artistic legacy of Canada ’ s own Oscar Peterson . Called “ the man with four hands ” by jazz great and admirer Louis Armstrong , Oscar Peterson rose to the top of the music world through more than six decades of electrifying piano performances and unforgettable compositions such as “ Hymn to Freedom ,” “ Blues Etude ,” and “ The Canadiana Suite .” The coin began circulating on Aug . 15 , 2022 , to coincide with Peterson ’ s birthday .
The Oscar Peterson commemorative circulation coin was designed by artist Valentine De Landro , an accomplished comic book artist , illustrator , and designer from Ajax , ON . His design
features Peterson at the piano , with his hands in full motion , from which emerges a flowing musical scale showing two closing bars of his famous Hymn to Freedom .” Peterson s name completes the design .
“ Throughout Oscar ’ s career he received many awards and honours , each of which h meant a great deal to him . During the nearly 15 years since his passing , there have been more . All of them humbling . All of them a source of pride .
