ENDORSER UPDATE
Blue Rodeo guitarist Colin Cripps says that since he first saw an ad for the Roland GP-8 guitar effects processors and decided to demo it , it ’ s been a staple of his set-up .
“ It was an instant revelation for me ,” Cripps recalls . “ That piece of gear is part of the lifeblood of my sound … I think it ’ s an incredibly well-designed and incredibly musical piece of equipment . I love the delay in it and I love how it sounds . I sort of feel like you ’ ve got it all in one and it couldn ’ t be better .”
Legendary Strat player Sonny Landreth has signed on to endorse Fishman Fluence Single Width pickups . Landreth is known as the “ King of Slydeco ” for his exceptional slide guitar playing and Southeastern Zydeco roots . Before emerging as a solo artist , he was considered by guitarists such as Eric Clapton as one of the most advanced and under-appreciated players in the world .
“ In the studio and on the road , I ’ m really impressed with the Fluence technology ,” says Landreth . “ Larry Fishman and company have captured the essence of my ‘ 65 Strat pickups minus the hum – with amazing accuracy and detail .”
James Gadson has been called one of the most recorded drummers ever and was number 32 on Rolling Stone ’ s list of the Greatest Drummers of All Time . He has recorded and / or performed with Marvin Gaye , The Jackson Five , and Diana Ross , and more recently with the likes of Justin Timberlake and Beck .
Gadson recently acquired the entire Lauten Audio Series Black line of microphones . “ I am very excited about the Series Black microphones ,” he says . “ They are not that expensive , but they are so great . The tracks that I have recorded came out so beautiful that I was elated ! They are great microphones .”
Chris Brown ( not that Chris Brown ) is an accomplished bass player , vocalist , composer , and musical director with an impressive list of credits to his name , including work with Leona Lewis , Mariah Carey , and Lady Gaga .
His most recent addition to his studio is an Audient iD22 audio interface and monitoring system . “ This thing sounds as good as anything that I ’ ve had before , and for the price , it ’ s just a great sounding unit ,” says Brown . “ The other thing that I like about the iD22 is the fact that I can have two speakers connected to it at one time , and do an A / B comparison between the two speakers just by pressing the function button .”
