Genelec RAW Series 8331 & 8341 Coxial Studio Monitors Genelec has expanded its range of RAW aluminum models to include the 8331 and 8341 three-way coaxial studio monitors from The Ones series , with a portion of each sale of these new models being donated to the Audio Engineering Society ( AES ) throughout 2022 .
All RAW models feature the Minimum Diffraction Enclosure ( MDE ) design , developed by Genelec in collaboration with industrial designer Harri Koskinen . By eliminating edge diffractions , the MDE delivers improved flat frequency response , imaging , and acoustical performance . The slimline enclosure is cast and finished to produce a rigid structure with large internal volume , thereby extending the frequency response while reducing resonances and the quantity of internal damping material required .
As part of Genelec ’ s Smart Active Monitoring family , all models in The Ones range integrate with GLM software , which can calibrate and control entire Genelec smart monitoring systems . Based on data from thousands of studios around t he world , GLM is able to minimize the room ’ s detrimental influence on the sound , enabling the user to produce mixes that translate to other systems , whether the format is stereo , surround or high channel count immersive .
Luna Guitars Vista Deer Cajon Luna Guitars has unveiled the Vista Deer Cajon , combining visual art and the art of instrument-building . This latest addition to Luna ’ s Vista Series incorporates a blend of tonewoods . Each front piece is handmade from a combination of tonewoods , including padauk , blackwood , spalted maple , quilted mahogany , and koa . The moon shines with mother of pearl , while teal abalone creates a glistening stream for the two deer depicted . The back and sides are made from birch and finished in mahogany , with a mahogany top to seat the player .
Using the Vista Deer Cajon ’ s built-in snare , drummers can control the beat of the music and alter the rhythm at any pace . The snare can be turned off with a twist of the knob , making the cajon sound hollower and thuddier when needed . Measuring 12 x 12 in . at the base , and 19 in . high , the Vista Deer Cajon is sized to project sound , while still being lightweight and portable for road travel .
Austrian Audio OC16 Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone Austrian Audio has announced the launch of the OC16 , a new large-diaphragm condenser microphone . Just like the OC18 and the OC818 models , the new OC16 features a combination of the CKR capsule and Austrian Audio ’ s “ Open Acoustics Technology ” approach .
The OC16 is equipped with a patented CKR6 ceramic capsule . The design is inspired by the CK12 capsule , which was made of brass . Austrian Audio opted for industrial ceramics instead , as it is a highly insulating material that has the same mass and acoustic properties as brass but is far less error-prone in production and can be manufactured much more consistently . Each capsule is made by hand in Vienna , tested and measured in-house before it leaves the factory .
Austrian Audio ’ s “ Open Acoustics Technology ” reduces acoustic problems such as unwanted reflections and standing waves within the microphone . The result is the familiar Austrian Audio OC ( open condenser ) sound . Because of the elastic capsule suspension , the mic can be positioned very close to even the loudest sound source , reducing unwanted noises , bass boosts and distortion .
