Empress Effects Celebrates 10 th Anniversary
Kanata , ON-based guitar pedal manufacturer Empress Effects is celebrating its 10 th anniversary in 2017 .
As the company tells it , in 2005 , having recently graduated from Queens University with a degree in electrical engineering , Steve Bragg was approached by a friend looking for a tremolo with a set of features that was unavailable on the market at the time . Seven months later , Bragg presented the tremolo to his friend . It turns out that his friend had already bought another tremolo and no longer needed it , so Steve went to sell it at a local used instruments store . The store liked it so much that they ordered 10 . After speaking with a few other retailers , it was clear that there was a demand for such products . With that , Empress Effects was born .
Since then , the company has added a number of other pedals to its range , including the Superdelay , which took two years to design . As well , to keep up with demand , the team has also grown beyond just Bragg to include head assembler Mike Stack , Dan Junkins as VP of awesomeness ( actual title ), Jason Fee as designer , and more .
