PRODUCT NEWS
CEntrance MixerFace R4R Mobile
Recording Interface
CEntrance has launched the MixerFace R4R, a new version of the mo-
bile recording interface that now comes with a built-in audio record-
er. The new model retains all the features of its parent MixerFace R4
but adds a built-in “one-button record” stereo micro-SD card recorder
for added in-the-field flexibility and extra recording redundancy.
The original MixerFace R4 turns a smartphone into a portable
DAW for mobile recording. An internal, long-lasting rechargeable
battery makes it ideal for the road. Two built-in mic preamps with
true 48V phantom power let users choose their favourite micro-
phones for recording. The Neutrik Combo input jacks with the Hi-Z
feature allow for plugging in electric guitars and basses. The built-in
SD card recorder in the R4R model captures audio immediately, with-
out waiting for the phone. An extra benefit of the built-in SD Card
recorder is the ability to stream audio via the phone while recording a
local copy to the SD card.

Adam Audio SP-5 Studio
Headphones
Professional studio monitor manufacturer Adam Audio has entered
the studio headphones market with the SP-5, a closed-backed,
circumaural headphone designed to offer a smoothly balanced sound
across a broad frequency spectrum from 8 Hz to 38 kHz for pro audio
monitoring and mixing.
The SP-5 integrates Ultrasone’s S-Logic technology, employing
transducers spatially arranged to exploit the natural form of the ear
and utilizing the natural acoustics of the wearer’s pinna to channel
sound into the ear canal. The result is a natural sound experience
with realistic spatial imaging of a quality typical of a stereo monitor-
ing system. This system is meant to make mixing on the SP-5 easier
than on traditional headphone designs that point directly at the ear
canal. The S-Logic technology also means the SP-5s require less SPL
to deliver the same subjectively experienced volume.

Cort KX257B Baritone 7-String Electric Guitar
Cort has released the KX257B baritone seven-string electric guitar,
which is designed for modern metal sounds and styles. It’s designed
with a naturally strong midrange bark and active pickup system.
The KX257B features EMG RetroActive Super 77 pickups and the
special edition seven-string set provides a clear, high output with
enhanced articulation. Tonal control on the KX257B is simple but
versatile with a one-volume, one-tone, and three-way toggle switch
that provides a variety of sounds. The result is a 27-in. baritone scale
with tight low end and smooth highs that are ideal for riffing or soloing.
The foundation of the KX257B’s design is its mahogany body and
bolt-on construction for a thick, yet punchy and powerful tone. The
hard maple neck is built for endurance, while the jatoba fingerboard
provides the right amount of density and stiffness as well as proper
volume projection, emphasizing on the high-mids. A strings-thru-
body hardtail bridge improves sustain while enhancing resonance.
