Winners Revealed for the Second Annual MIDI Innovation Awards The MIDI Association , Music Hackspace , and NAMM have announced the winners of the second annual MIDI Innovation Awards . In a livestreamed show hosted by BBC presenter LJ Rich , the MIDI Innovation Awards jury awarded innovators in five categories , who split a share of over $ 10,000-worth of prizes . The categories for prizes were artistic installations , software prototypes , hardware prototypes , commercial software , and commercial hardware . Each category had three winners .
Athan Billias , president of The MIDI Association , remarked , “ MIDI continues to inspire new ideas in the developer community after almost 40 years . We are looking forward to the creativity sparked by MIDI 2.0 .”
The winners in the Commercial Hardware category were : SOMI-1 by Instruments of things ; WIDI Core by CME ; and the Wind Synthesizer R1 by Robkoo .

Erica Krusen Joins Gibson Brands as Senior Director of Cultural Influence

Gibson has announced the addition of Erica Krusen in the role of senior director of cultural influence at Gibson Brands . Gibson ’ s Cultural Influence team is tasked with engaging audiences through storytelling , targeted partnerships , highimpact activations , and a global multimedia network .

Krusen has been an active member of the Gibson Gives Advisory Circle since its inception and instrumental in the Gibson Brands partnership with The Recording Academy / MusiCares for over a decade . She joins Gibson ’ s Cultural Influence team with 15 years of experience as managing director at MusiCares , the charitable partner of The Recording Academy ( a . k . a . the Grammys ). Through her work with MusiCares , Krusen is a known advocate for health and wellness in the music and entertainment community since she joined the MusiCares Founda- tion as a practicing licensed therapist .
