Canadian Home Trends MAKEOVERS FOR EVERY BUDGET | Page 14
Keeping you in the loop....
course, food! Whether you join us and learn a new recipe, or tour
some of the most stunning properties in the country, you are sure
to be inspired each and every week. Just like any other extension
of Canadian Home Trends Magazine, the Marc and Mandy show
is all about you: what you like, what you wish you had, and how
you can get it. (Check out MarcAndMandy.com for air dates and
times)
In this issue, you might notice a few changes as well. First
and foremost, our look is constantly evolving. Why does it
keep changing? Simple, Canadian Home Trends is organic.
It transforms and changes by reflecting what you, the reader,
want the magazine to be. You have a voice within our media!
Don’t be afraid to express it. Tell us which articles you loved,
which makeovers were your favourite and which of Massimo’s
fab recipes you’ve tried at home! (Check out exclusive Massimo
Capra recipes in your digital edition)
While flipping through the glossy pages of this issue, you may
also notice our expanded recipe section. The revamped section
features more recipes and a new series the “Barista’s Guide to...”
(See Barista’s guide to perfect lattes on page 38) Each issue we’ll
show you different ways to prepare your favourite caffeinated
drinks. Caffeine goes a long way during those long summer
evenings and weekends that will be spent in our backyards trying
to integrate all those wonderful ideas found in this issue. We have
everything from adding a full-sized lawn chess set to creating a
backyard home theater. (See My backyard is in distress on page
20) For those living in condos where your “backyard” is a balcony,
we have some gorgeous furniture and accessories to outfit your
space for this season. (See Jo’s trends 2 watch on page 18)
This past year, it seems like every spare moment has been
leading to spring 2014. What’s so special about this time of
year? Well, let me tell you: 2014 is the year that Home Trends
Magazine is launching Canada’s newest daytime talk show, the
Marc and Mandy Show. It has been years in the making and we
are very excited to be working with some of Canada’s greatest
talent that will be stopping by our new studios and making guest
appearances. I think in life, you have to be bold and take a few
risks. As Nate Berkus once told me, viewers are smart, so be
genuine. I think a lot can be said for this design genius that spent
years working with the Oprah Winfrey Show.
For those looking for interior design advice, we haven’t forgotten
to give you a few ideas. Whether you’re working with 400 square
feet or 4,000 square feet, we have design inspiration for you. I’m
personally going to follow Paul Semkuley’s advice and organize
my closet. It seems like that time of the year again where we are
working on organizing and spring cleaning our homes. Cleaning
is one of those things no one likes to do it but it has to get done.
Therefore, we’ve also included a few household hacks to help
simplify your cleaning routine. For instance, do you have an extra
lemon in the fridge? Use it to self-clean your microwave! (Check
out “Why didn’t I think of that!?” on page 40)
This issue is filled with tips galore to help you better your home
and backyard. We hope you enjoy the read as much as we have
enjoyed compiling these articles for you.
The Marc and Mandy show is a project that is near and dear to
my heart. Mandy and I wanted a place where we could gather
