Canaroma Bath and Tile There are few things that spell luxury better than a beautifully designed bathroom. - Text Betty Barkman Where to find it 7979 Weston Rd., Vaughan ON and 8111 Jane St., Concord, ON, www.canaroma.ca The History Canaroma has been at it now for thirty-five years. During this time, they have developed a keen sense of style, became very adept at following the trends and learned to stock enough styles to please pretty well everyone. The big question we ask customers is, “What kind of style or design are you looking for?” says Patricia Ee, their Sales and Marketing Director. The Showroom It’s the showroom that counts, right? Clients are always well impressed – the displays are magnificent. But to convince someone that it’s worth a trip to Vaughan is sometimes a challenge. Canaroma is working on that from two angles. They have just expanded their showroom from fifteen thousand to eighteen thousand square feet – partly to accommodate its growing tile department. Plus, they are opening a five thousand square foot outlet centre at 8111 Jane St. in Concord, featuring affordable products including overstock and discontinued products. “In our large showroom, we display our products in small, niche settings showing what your bathroom could look like,” Ee says. “We are ready to give customers design ideas, make recommendations when appropriate and even offer technical advice.” why it’s hot Whatever the style a client desires, Canaroma creates it by using its wide range of high-end products, many from exclusive Italian designers. Their portfolio includes not only mirrors, tubs, showers, faucets, fixtures and accessories, but also tiles by top-of-the-line manufacturers. “We have a lot of choices,” says Patricia. “That means everything from the more-or-less ordinary to the exclusive lines you can’t find anywhere else in Canada.” The basic choices are modern, transitional or traditional. For years, modern has been extremely popular and it’s still going strong. However, there is a slight shift in the trends. There are more 62 requests for the traditional now, also more for gold embellishment. Some people combine the two – like a recent customer wanting old-style faucets embedded with Swarovski crystals for a bit of fling. Canaroma makes sure they stay on top by attending the international bath trade show in Italy every year, not only to discover the latest trends, but to bring back what customers are asking for. “This year our key focus is our exclusive brands,” Ee explains. “With the addition of Sherle Wagner and THG we have the largest boutique in Canada for those two brands. The seven other Italian brands, of which our showroom is the only one in Canada are: Artelinea, Aquos, Glass Design, Novello, Oasis, Onsen and Mastro Fiore.” Wow! That’s quite an achievement, isn’t it? Some of the newest trends bring in light. Along with other new trends, LED lighting is becoming especially well-liked. It’s compact and eco-friendly as several new products show. One is a glass vanity, using a motion sensor, that lights up when someone approaches. “That’s new, innovative; people love it because it’s automatic.” Ee explains. So, if you are vying for a dazzling bathroom you have one place to go – Canaroma.
