Glen Peloso's
multi-purpose
bathroom
the project
Generally, it seems like the master bathroom
gets all the attention in a renovation project,
and it should. You work hard to be able to have
a lovely home so you deserve it. The sad part
is, occasionally the other bathrooms, used by
guests, don’t get the same level of pizazz. This
was the case in this bathroom; but, we were
determined to ensure that the guest bathroom
got as much attention as the master bathroom.
my challenge
This bathroom was accessible to the guest
rooms on the second floor and was also used as
a family bathroom. It was the closest bathroom
to the third floor media space and, as a result,
was going to be used much like the powder
room on the main floor. It was going to have
to successfully fill the functions of a guest and
family bathroom and ensure that the family had
enough useful storage for everyday toiletries.
my solution
The first point of inspiration for the space
was the tiles. We selected a vein cut marble tile
because of its natural stripe in black and white.
Not only did the tiles provide us with a great
design element but it also ensured that the
room would be easy to clean. We then selected
modern fixtures for the tub and vanity sink.
The wall mounted vanity faucet and vessel sink
added elements of modernism to the room.
We also added a speaker to the bathroom so
that music wouldn’t change from the party
area to the bathroom and to ensure that the
kids morning routine would last a maximum
of three songs! When the renovation was
complete, we ended up with a very pleasing
décor for the homeowners, their family and
friends.
