Kitchens are at the heart of our homes. We gather
with friends and family, host dinner parties and prepare
meals all within that one area. Therefore it comes to
no surprise that we tend to spend more money on a
kitchen renovation than any other room in our homes.
As someone who has redesigned quite a few kitchens,
including a couple of my own, I can honestly say that
designing a kitchen comes with a lot of options, a few
headaches and requires patience. There is also a lot of
fun that comes with remodeling a kitchen! You get to
browse the newest appliances, faucets and state-ofthe-art fixtures that come with owning a twenty-first
century kitchen. (See Laura Stein’s Five Favourite
Things on Page 18) Now, whether you are looking at
simply adding a few things here and there to spruce up
your existing design or giving it a complete overhaul,
we’ve compiled all the wisdom one needs to stay sane
and trendy during the renovation process. (See Kitchen
and Bathroom Solutions on Page 32) Remember it
has to get ugly before it gets pretty so don’t lose hope
when the contractor tears out all your old cabinets and
you are left with something that looks like a landfill of
wood. At that moment, just close your eyes and picture
your vision and before you know it the renovation
chaos will be behind you and you will be enjoying a
brand new gourmet kitchen!
As Red Green says “Remember, I’m pulling for ya.
We’re all in this together!”. Happy renovating!
