You’ve reviewed your space, budget
and family requirements, and now
you’re ready to proceed: you’re
renovating your bathroom! Many
designers have said that bathroom
faucets are like “jewellery”. While
shopping for new bathroom products
is an exciting experience, it can also
become overwhelming. When the time
comes to select the faucets for your
new bathroom, close consideration to
their function and quality will ensure
that the investment in your bathroom
will pay off in many ways in the future:
with style, function and water savings.

Water Savings
Think beyond the shower and toilet when
considering water-saving upgrades to your
bathroom. Choosing WaterSense-labeled faucets
for your bathroom can make a big difference
in the amount of water your household uses.
Conventional bathroom faucets typically use
2.5 gallons (that’s 9.5 litres) of water per minute
(referred to as “gpm”). WaterSense-certified
faucets use only 1.5 gallons (or 5.7 litres) per
minute – which equates to 30 percent water
savings over standard bathroom faucets.
WaterSense-labeled bathroom faucets can save
a family of four close to 600 gallons ( or over
2271 litres) of water per year.

Accessibility
Think about your family’s future – an “ADA
compliant” faucet is easy to use for everyone,
including children, the elderly and the disabled.
This means the faucet must meet certain
requirements regarding how much force is
needed to turn the handle. Plus, the user needs
to be able to operate the handles without
grasping them. (ADA refers to the Americans
With Disabilities Act.)

a makeover!
Faucets should come with all of the
components required to install and operate the
unit “straight out of the box” including the
matching pop-up drain for the basin, supply
lines, washers and anchor bolts. Some faucets
even offer easy install “Speed Connect Drains”:
pre-assembled to install effortlessly, with a
pop-up rod that stays in place and never needs
adjusting.
Now-a-days, water-efficient faucets are available
in a myriad of models that include widespread,
centerset and single control styles. Many
designs also incorporate matching bathtub and
shower sets to ensure that all elements in your
bathroom complement each other.
