STAGED W

hen I was
contacted about
an empty house
in Toronto’s Beach
that was in desperate need of
staging for resale, I took a look
at the space and thought, “We
can do so much more than just
furniture.” That’s when the
fun challenge began to include
local suppliers within the
area to help furnish this four
million dollar eclectic house to
show that you don’t need to
travel far to complete a home
decorating project. The other
twist was to use a high and low
approach, making the design
obtainable to all.
When it comes to staging,
the majority believes you
need to keep your home very
neutral in colour and sparse
with furniture. However, a
truly good staging job will
play up the home’s natural
lines, interesting features and
emphasize what the house has
to offer.
I wanted to show the true
potential of each room
with a clean and uncluttered
approach but still have plenty
of life and colour.
The newly renovated house
had many interesting lines,
modern twists and old
traditional touches; so, we had
to understand the uniqueness
within each area before we
could even begin to style it.

Every room screamed for
a conversational piece with
a clean line design. I wanted
each room to have its own
identity, but have a consistent
colour to tie them all together.
I used local artists James
Connelly’s and Jeff Turner’s
art pieces to add that
interesting twist to every
room.
