Jane Lockhart
is an interior designer,
spokesperson, author,
television personality, and an
expert in the world of colour
and design. As host of W
Network’s Colour Confidential,
Jane brings a breathtaking
sense of colour into viewers’
homes. With more than
eighteen years of experience
as an interior designer, her
firm, Jane Lockhart Interior
Design, specializes in custom
design projects. My favourite
2014 trend is the use of bright
colours. Turquoise, pink,
orange, and yellow will be
the strongest colours in both
upholstery and case-goods
such as dining tables and
cabinets. www.janelockhart.com
Hellen Buttigieg
is a Certified Professional
Organizer, life coach,
TV personality, author and
speaker. Her Oakville-based
company, We Organize U, helps
busy families clear their
clutter and create a more
relaxed home, a productive
workspace, and a manageable,
meaningful life. My favourite
2014 trend is minimalism.
With all the chaos out in the
world, I like coming home
to a harmonious haven with
minimal visual noise. The crisp,
clean lines and uncluttered
spaces of this décor are
soothing to the eye and soul.

Lisa Canning is an
Interior Stylist with a penchant
for chic, contemporary,
personalized interiors.
A graduate of Ryerson
University’s acclaimed School
of Fashion, Lisa brought her
flair for textiles and colour as
she transitioned into designing
homes on HGTV’s Marriage
Under Construction. For the
past seven years Lisa Canning
Interiors has been specializing
in modern commercial
and residential spaces. My
favourite 2014 trend is
colour and how it is going to
continue to be embraced and
celebrated. Saturated hues
and contrasting colours on
wallpaper and upholstery is
refreshing! www.lisacanning.ca
Kim Bartley, Principal
of Kim Bartley Design, brings
twenty five years of business
ownership and management
to the table. Kim’s keen eye
for design lends her rooms
an edgy sophistication
while remaining current and
functional. Her philosophy
is that your home should
make you happy and reflect
your lifestyle and changing
needs. My favourite sofa
feature is the classic club sofa
with distinct Mid-century
inspired details like a
beautifully tufted seat and
back cushion. This piece of
furniture elevates the look of
any room. www.kimbartleydesign.
AMI MCKAY, Principal
of PURE Design Inc. listens
carefully, sees the very best
in you, celebrates who you
are, and helps you envision
your purpose for the space
throughout the design
process. She blends periods
and styles, and adds her own
subtle sense of whimsy to
create a fresh and innovative
space. My favourite sofa is one
that has a natural latex rubber
core and a solid wood frame. I
also like an additional layer of
down in the cushions for that
little bit of extra softness. The
sofa should also have clean
lines with a beautiful crisp,
light coloured linen fabric.
likes to approach a room like
a woman’s outfit: “Decorate
as you dress.” With a focus
on residential design, she
has completed kitchen and
bathroom renovations, custom
furniture design and décor. She
has appeared on the television
show CityLine and CHCH News
and as Production Designer
on the Property Brother's new
show Buying and Selling on
W Network. My favourite
sofa feature is tufting. When
upholstered in a rich deep
coloured velvet, it always adds
an “old-school” glamour to a
room. www.decorbychristine.com
Jennifer Heffel is half
the partner of Heffel Balagno
Design Consultants. She gained
her bachelors degree with
the Gold Medal for Interior
Design from the University
of Manitoba. Jennifer is a
NCIDQ Registered Interior
Designer and together with
her business partner, Lesli
Balagno, have been honoured
with numerous awards. My
favourite 2014 trend is the
resurgence of brass, gold and
warm metal tones. Last in
vogue in the seventies, this
ancient metal is speaking to a
21st-century desire for luxury,
timelessness and artisanship.
Christina Marzilli is
the co-founder of Decor-Rest
Furniture Ltd., one of Canada's
leading manufacturers of fine
upholstery. She has spent more
than forty years developing
and manufacturing products
that have gained international
recognition for their style and
commitment to quality. My
favourite sofa feature is a
simple and relaxed design. I
look for style versatility, where,
if I change my décor, my sofa
can keep up with me. I also
really like the resurgence of the
oval-shaped arms on sofas – it’s
both beautiful and functional.
Kelly Deck, the director
of Kelly Deck Designs, is one
of Canada’s most recognized
designers of luxury homes. Her
ideas have had a wide reach
through her HGTV Television
Series; Take it Outside, and
her national column in the
Globe and Mail. My favourite
sofa feature is a simple, boxy,
tuxedo-style sofa. No tufts,
or rolls, just down-wrapped
cushions, quality upholstery in
a natural fibre and clean lines.
It works with almost anything,
anywhere.
Paige Johnston, a
graduate of the Ryerson
School of Interior Design,
helped expand LUX Design,
a successful Toronto-based
interior design firm, to the city
of Calgary. She is now working
in Calgary as the lead interior
designer of LUX Design. My
favourite 2014 trend is
Cobalt blue. This colour is
fresh, vibrant, and easy to
use. Even Pantone can’t resist
incorporating “Dazzling Blue”
into their colour report for
2014. www.luxdesign.ca
