Louis: Dr. Verbora, is it not possible that taking a holistic approach incorporating medical cannabis such as adopting a diet and lifestyle that does not foster the conditions that lead to the onset of chronic inflammation combined with the use of lawfully prescribed and obtained medical cannabis may have a compounded positive synergistic impact on our health?

Dr. Verbora: without doubt we are learning everyday that chronic inflammatory states are the main contributor a host of preventable diseases. Where inflammation comes from in our lifestyle is still being investigated and how to minimize inflammation is being looked at by avoiding causative agents and using anti-inflammatory agents to help. I think a scientifically plausible hypothesis would be that using cannabis to reduce inflammation can prevent a host of diseases. This has never been looked at, so it would need to be studied to get an answer. When you think of the endocannabinoid system and its importance in homeostasis it’s not hard to imagine how this is of huge benefit to many patients and could have immense potential in preventing disease.

With respect to my hypothesis in question form, the sentence that stood out in Dr. Verbora’s reply was “This has never been looked at, so it would need to be studied to get an answer”.
