Location, location, location - Grow up was held in Niagara Falls, ON this year and it was well worth the trip out in my opinion. This time around we placed a heavier emphasis on video content, and are excited to share our highlight reel. Daniel (one of our talented videographers) and myself originally planned to drive up solo, and added last minute friends to the carpool when we learned that Harrison Jordan and Alexander Samuelson needed a way up! It’s not just a TTC ride away, and we were happy to have a full car load on the way up - plus these guys are wicked smart and we had some great conversations regarding state of the industry.
From my observations and personal experience, the show definitely had a more social vibe to it versus others, but perhaps a major factor there was the location and timing. Most people had come in from places all around ontario, and even from other provinces/the USA - and seemed to be bunkered down for the weekend with full intentions to enjoy the show and surrounding area to the fullest! The fact that this was the last major trade show before legalization probably also added to the hype!
Given the atmosphere and the fact that I now felt like a “regular” - a fun idea came to mind. What if we went off script, and did a series of video interviews with industry friends and colleagues, addressing a simple question with infinite possibilities: “What are you excited about?”. In reference to the cannabis industry specifically, and not limiting the range of answers, we heard some truly awesome feedback, and will be sharing a ton of the answers on social soon enough!
It’s an exciting time to be alive, and an extremely exciting time for this industry, as the world of possibility is just starting to open. We’re not even close to finishing any races …. we’ve just finished stretching and are getting lined up at the starting line. When the starting pistol fires, will you be ready? And if I may ask … what are you excited about?
