Cannabis

Organigram has been present in New Brunswick since its inception, while Canopy Growth Corporation recently announced the acquisition of a facility that will be used for growing approximately 40,000 square feet of cannabis in Fredericton, New Brunswick, with the ability to expand to approximately 100,000 square feet or over 10,000 kilograms annually. But there is more. The province of New Brunswick announced on September 15th that it has entered into an MOU with both Canopy and Organigram to supply the legal recreational market when legalization comes into effect on July 1, 2018.

Peat Moss

However, recent major announcements made by Canopy Growth Corporation (“Canopy”) (TSX:WEED; OTC:TWMJF) and Organigram (TSX-V:OGI, OTC:OGRMF) do sound pretty progressive, and may present a challenge to the old reliable peat moss as New Brunswick’s claim to agricultural fame. Cannabis is the new (old) kid in town, at least at the legal level.
