CIM: Why did you decide on the name Virtudes Company? What’s the significance or meaning?

VC: When naming our company, we wanted there to be influence from Jamaica, one that carries a strong message and represents our mission. Virtudes is actually a Jamaican name that means “blessed spirit”. It is also the plural form of the trait, virtue, which means moral excellence. Jamaica is a country rich in culture, mainly due to its incredible people and extraordinary natural resources. At Virtudes we believe the foundation of principle and good moral is virtue and we apply that concept to how we grow our hemp and operate our business. That’s why we like to say, Jamaican Grown With Virtue.

CIM: Why Hemp, instead of Cannabis?

VC: There are several reasons we chose hemp instead of cannabis. First, hemp is legally accepted globally more comprehensively compared to cannabis. Currently, there are 47 countries growing hemp for commercial and or research purposes leading to more legal open markets. Additionally, the hemp crop naturally has lower levels of the psychoactive chemical component found in all cannabis plants, better known as THC. At this time, we are primarily focused on the medicinal benefits of a cannabis product as we aim to provide a solution for everyday pains and stresses for everyone at every age. There is a great amount of dedication to research and development that is still required to fully understand the affects and safety of a high THC product and we want to focus on mastering the hemp first.
