I’ll conclude this overview of the educational system as it relates to cannabis by presenting an interview conducted recently. CannaInvestor Magazine sat down with Debbie Johnston, Dean of The School of Continuing Education at Durham College, to discuss their Medical Cannabis Fundamentals for Business Professionals course as well as their upcoming Cannabis Industry Specialization Certificate, and Debbie’s insights into this program and education in general, help to shed light on the emerging educational trend and bring awareness to not just the program, but the future of cannabis-based education as we approach legalization.

The transcript of the

interview follows.

CCIM: Do students that complete this course receive any sort of certification or credentials?

DC: Upon successfully completing the Cannabis Fundamentals for Business Professionals course, students receive a badge. This is an electronic credential that can be incorporated into a resume or added to a social media profile, such as LinkedIn, to show prospective employers that this person has taken the initiative to learn about the industry and develop that core, contextual knowledge hiring managers are looking for. Those who complete the Cannabis Industry Specialization program will receive a certificate, which is a higher-level credential than a badge, because the program comprises five courses.
