Students will also focus on Health Canada regulations and the implications of these regulations operationally for LP’s. Ultimately, graduates of this program will aspire to become growers, or work in areas such as production, quality assurance, post-harvest, and propagation and operation managers. Canopy Growth Corp. (TSX: WEED; OTC: TWMJF; FRA: 11L1) will be aiding this process, as they announced earlier this month that they’ve signed an MOU with Niagara College to foster learning in this field, particularly the aforementioned Commercial Cannabis Production certificate program, as well as Horticultural Technician, Greenhouse Technician, and Business programs. Part of the arrangement between the two parties includes internship and co-op opportunities at its Tweed Farms facility in Niagara-on-the-Lake and its other 13 facilities across Canada. Canopy Growth Corporation has been part of the community in the Niagara Region since 2014.

Online courses are being offered now at Dalhousie University, through a partnership with Kwantlen Polytechnical University (“KPU”) in British Columbia, who is the first Canadian school to offer a cannabis specific program.

Dalhousie’s program is focused on cannabis cultivation and management, and creating skilled front-line workers. Currently, students receive certificates of completion rather than academic credit. KPU, in turn, works with the National Institute for Cannabis Health and Education (“NICHE”), who is dedicated to providing patients with safe, high quality cannabis products in the legal cannabis environment.
