There are announcements practically every week on trials and studies involving Canadian cannabis companies, the most recent being Aurora Cannabis and the University of Alberta, to compare medical cannabis-using and non-using patients and how they compare in terms of use of our health-care system in Canada.

Terra Life Sciences Inc., a global manufacturer of pharma-grade softgels, announced the expansion of its medical cannabis pharma operations in the Town of Olds, Alberta. In addition to this, the company has also developed a partnership with Olds College to help develop the college’s new Cannabis Production program offering. This program will deliver training and educate students on the cannabis industry and provide on the job training opportunities.

The president and CEO of Terra Life Sciences, Dr. Anil Jain, reiterates the importance of education to the industry as a whole: “We’re extremely proud to be a founding partner with Olds College in the development of this program, as it will turn out graduates with valuable skills who know the ins and outs of not just the horticultural side of the industry but the regulatory side as well which, for our industry, is critical”

The horticultural side of the industry is also the focus of a new program being developed through a partnership between Niagara College and MedReleaf Corp. (TSX: LEAF; OTC: MEDFF; FRA: MEW). Starting in September 2018, students will receive a Graduate Certificate in Commercial Cannabis Production, providing training in the biology and cultural practices of cannabis production including plant nutrition, environment, lighting, climate control, pest control and cultivar selection.
