We also know, as predicted, that alcohol and tobacco companies will enter this space and Constellation Brands (NYSE:STZ) and Alliance One International (NYSE:AOI) have done so. How the NYSE and other bodies may play a role in these ventures is yet to be seen given that marijuana remains illegal Federally in the USA. However, the NASDAQ listing Cronus Group (CRON) may be an indicator and both ACB and WEED have announced similar major foreign listing intentions. Combining all of that and now incorporating the Canadian cannabis tourism market and blockchain would seem to suggest that there may be years of superior investment opportunities ahead. This article, that appeared on therooster.com, has one of those catchy headlines suggesting big tobacco is on the move but the article itself is more rooted and it is an interesting and worthwhile read. If you are skeptical that this industry will continue to grow for the foreseeable future look no forward than this projection that producers will need more than 743,000m2 (8-million ft2) by 2020.

Although the official case studies appear elsewhere in this edition, one can be stated here and that is for you to use the simple five word approach that appeared in our last issue of the USA edition and together they present another way to look at what we have been stressing since day one – due diligence:

1. Monitor your portfolio and the industry for strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats (SWOT).

2. Analyze (or Assess) your portfolio with respect to your risk tolerance and time horizons.

3. Respect your Intuition. Often your gut feeling is right. If your intuition is to make some changes then do not become complacent and

comfortable with the status quo. Exciting and rewarding opportunities can only come with change and embracing the risk associated with change.

4. Always – the above 3 steps are an ongoing process that repeats itself and becomes stronger with each loop. Focus more on mistakes to learn from them.
