changes they might make and the timing with which these changes will be announced.

I am going to break one of the cardinal rules of never discussing money, religion, or politics. With the Federal election the same month as the end of prohibition of cannabis beverages … does the Alliance see a change in government as a threat or as an opportunity? In no way is this a “who would you recommend voting for” question but rather what is the risks and/or rewards should there be a material change? Based on the opposition parties most recent statements it appears that there is no appetite to turn the clock back ….?

Great question. Given it is an election year, the Alliance’s engagement strategy will target critics from both the Official Opposition and the NDP, and we will work to ensure candidates are armed with fact-based information around cannabis beverages as they hit the campaign trail in the coming months. We want to ensure that if there is a change in government, that the party in power has all the information they need to enact informed policy and regulatory changes when the time is right.

As well, I will add that I think all parties recognize that adult-use legalization is a ‘done deal’, and it would seem that the desire to protect consumers is consistent across party lines.

OK. Let’s change direction …I believe beverages make an ideal vehicle for delivery and especially medically. Thoughts?

I think the idea of cannabis beverages is extremely appealing to a lot of current and future consumers. The notion that you do not have to combust, or smoke, your cannabis in order to consume the product will certainly be palatable to those with existing lung health conditions, for example. I cannot speak to the formulations and innovative technologies our members have employed with respect to their individual products, but I believe their plans for delivery and product onset will definitely sit well with folks who have reservations about other product forms.
