Alanna, thank you so much for your time today. You have no idea how excited I am to have you here today. Beverages has been my passion since even before my first article. In fact, my first writing (2016) discussed beverages and brought attention to The Tinley Beverage Company’s vision and plans well before their first products (Hemplify) went to production.

The website for the CBPA is https://www.cannabevpro.org/ for the benefit of our readers. Why was this “alliance” formed?

The Alliance was formed because our founding members correctly identified areas in Health Canada’s regulatory proposal that would specifically and negatively impact beverage manufacturers. That being said, our members have a long history of compliance with various health and safety protocols (GPP, HACCP, etc.) and we intend to work collaboratively alongside Health Canada to ensure regulations governing the infused beverage product category accomplish their stated policy goals all the while making it feasible for operators of all size to enter the industry.

OK … I am a firm believer that, in time, the plant (whether cannabis or hemp – I always make the distinction due to different laws and regulations in various jurisdictions although hemp is indeed a sativa sub-variety) … I believe will become a crop and that means a commodity. Beverages are a finished product and hold their “value” … better to own Hill Street Brewery as an investment then some of the ingredients themselves in the formulation.

What we are seeing is a move away from the beverages that plagued the industry … full of corn syrups and artificial flavouring and colours … and towards beverages that are more closely aligned to being consistent with health and wellness – would you agree?
