Makes the

First Move

Focusing on Customers

Besides just allowing the new recreational marijuana industry in Canada to have the product it needs at a production cost that growers can withstand, propagation will also give the customers something they desperately desire. That something is consistency. Different strains produce different effects in different individuals, and both recreational and medicinal users of cannabis products have come to rely on the consistency of these effects. The people paying for this product don’t want to roll the dice with their purchase.

They want what they pay for, and what they generally pay for is a specific desired effect. Because propagated plants are clones, they are virtually guaranteed to reproduce the effects of previous generations. There are variations that can occur in a plant based on environmental factors, but the process of propagation overwhelmingly produces more consistent plants from generation to generation. If industry participants want consumers to get on board with this new industry, they need to give them what they think they’re getting. They need to give them quality and consistency.
