The first is ECOCERT Canada which is an internationally accredited body started in 2003 that certified OrganiGram. They currently certify all of TGOD’s cannabis as Organic. The other being Fraser Valley Organic Producers Association. Which is the body that grants Whistler Medical Marijuana Corporation Organic Certification. Also of note is Green Relief who could be seeking a different kind of certification using it’s proprietary aquaponic system that’s coined ‘beyond organic’.

The demand for Organic cannabis arises from the black market. As illegal cannabis is subject to so many unknowns that have the potential to be hazardous to one’s health. As no one knows what growing conditions it was subject to before it gets to the consumer lungs.

ACMPR Organic producers set up to create a solution to that problem. Instantaneously creating a key product differentiator in the form of organic Pharma grade cannabis. OrganiGram made initial inroads with organic cannabis.

OrginaGram lost their certified organic certification; however,

their website states that they expect to be recertified later in 2018 for their ANKR line. ABCann recently removed reference to the word “organic” from their website and other marketing materials. Leaving Whistler to fulfill the organic void left in the wake of the numerous Health Canada violations across the industry for the use of banned pesticides. However organic cannabis isn’t simply a key market differentiator for those involved. It’s essential a way of life some of these companies.
