Using CannTrust as an example on whether cost-wise, this could work, the price for CBD-only capsules is $72 for 60 pills. Inclusive of taxes, that’s $81.36. CannTrust offers free shipping on orders over $90, but let’s assume shipping is free. CannTrust suggests that 60 pills is equivalent of 10 grams of cannabis. So each pill contains 0.6 grams. So my mean, median, and mode math earlier is about right for comparison purposes. All told, CannTrust capsules equate to $1.36 per pill. Even throw in a few cents for shipping and it looks like we’re on par, or close to, what I spent to make my experimental capsules. Canopy Growth recently released several softgels (many more varieties offered than there was prior to this month), some at a much lower cost, some as low as $38 for 60 softgels, but price varies based on potency ($38 softgels being at a low end of potency levels). Will I do it again? Perhaps, after all, I have 900 empty vegan capsules left. In the future, well……..I can see costs coming down for LP’s, and if they pass along these savings to the medical patient, I doubt it would even be worth the hassle to make your own. Plus I trust the doses are accurate with an LP, and they use oil, which I feel more comfortable digesting.
