Consumer goods sectors are diverse and collectively represent enormous and distinct economic industries. A new car is generally the 2nd-most expensive financial decision in a person’s life behind the purchase of a new home; and whereas shopping for the evening meal is based on a need very distinct from buying a new black dress, these are all examples of decisions that consumers make to acquire a variety of consumer goods to satisfy their needs. Let’s drill a little deeper.

If you’re in the mood for a burger and soft drink you have plenty of options within that specific consumer goods sub-category. You may have already decided that other fast food options like pizza or tacos are not what you want right now and, since locating a burger and soft drink is simple and easy, you ultimately enjoy exactly what your heart (or stomach) desires in a juicy burger.
