CCIM: There are rumours that a third facility is in the works in Kitchener … can you update our readers on any progress made regarding this facility?
JWCA: We are in the feasibility study stages of a new facility. JWC 3 would be our flagship; it would be the most advanced cultivation facility in the world, completely off the grid, built to our specifications, and more energy efficient than anything currently in existence. It will be a while longer before we can say more, but look for exciting news to come.
CCIM: As legalization nears, we’ve seen many companies rolling out their “recreational” brands recently. What is JWC’s plans for recreational cannabis? When can we expect to hear an announcement on this?
JWCA: We are considering the issue, and now that the regulations have been circulated for the recreational market, expect to hear more news soon.
CCIM: How has your relationship with Canopy Rivers helped JWC? Do you plan to continue this into the future?
JWCA: Canopy Rivers has been an important partner to this point, and I expect they will wish to continue their involvement as we go forward. We appreciate their ability to see the value in what we are doing at JWC, and we see the value in their strategy of investing in LPs that demonstrate an ability to set a high standard of practice in this industry.
CCIM: The deal with Canopy Growth Corp. will help you process cannabis oil among other benefits. Do you plan on doing your own processing going forward?
JWCA: We have an LOI in place with MediPharm to process materials into oils for us. We anticipate that this collaboration will allow us to fast track to our oils amendment by outsourcing all processing and compliance efforts. We will be the first LP to partner with MediPharm in this groundbreaking new strategy and we are proud to be participating.
Canopy has their own oils process, and although it is named as a potential in some of our documentation with them, we have never pursued a similar process with Canopy Growth Corp.
