Hucksters may have found a new angle to work their craft to the detriment of retail investors and companies alike – trying to confuse using biological asset valuation and IAS 41.
I heard on the radio today that a new variant of the age-old scam of receiving an incredible email from someone needing your financial help is not only making its rounds but, despite its absurdity, has had success in pulling the wool over the eyes of some recipients. This rendition features The Boss (Bruce Springsteen) himself and he needs your help with recovering money from a gold investment in Dubai and he also needs iTune cards to help pay senior citizen phone bills. Sounds both ridiculous and incredible (not-credible, flawed, absurd, etc). Yet, as with all scams, they keep circulating because they work. If you get an email or text asking you for money either delete it or if you truly believe it is a relative or friend, verify it first. Of course, the retail investor in the cannabis industry is also no stranger to possible manipulation schemes.
