Background

As a first step in pioneering the commercial cannabis plant propagation business in Canada, PUF has partnered with Casey Houweling to form Propagation Services Canada Inc. Houweling possesses over 40 years of floral and vegetable propagation experience and is the proprietor of Houweling's Tomatoes, a family owned business that is considered to be one of the most technologically advanced greenhouse operations in the world. Houweling is no stranger to consulting in the cannabis industry. He is a consultant with Solaris Nutraceuticals, an innovative medical technology company headquartered in Sydney, Australia, that is building the largest medical cannabis production greenhouse and medical research centre in the southern hemisphereAlthough not specifically on the topic of propagation, Houweling, recognized for his wealth of greenhouse knowledge, has provided consultation for at least one other major Canadian growing operation in the past.

Along with developing this unique partnership, PUF has also taken steps to ensure that Propagation Services Canada Inc. will have operating space in which to carry out the next steps in the business process. Houweling’s Group currently operates a large-scale vegetable propagation business in a 2.2-million-square-foot greenhouse facility located in Delta, B.C. To the mutual advantage of both parties, both a speed-to-market and cost saving perspective, Propagation Services Canada will be housed within this existing state of the art facility. PUF has enlisted Cannabis Compliance Inc. to aid them in making the necessary upgrades so as to allow for cannabis plant propagation and to adhere to the stringent regulatory framework currently being imposed under Canadian law.
