Lastly, how does one interpret the actions of USA Attorney General Jeff Sessions on January 3 when he rescinded the Cole Memo? A press release later that same day from MPX Bioceutical Corporation succinctly breaks it down. Also, the courts have already ruled with respect to State supremacy in this matter and how the Federal Judiciary cannot deploy resources to prosecute any person or company in lawful compliance with State law. CannaRoyalty Corp’s published commentary clearly states that in truth nothing has changed with respect to the legality or the enforcement. My interpretation mirrors that of both CRZ and MPX and only those not in compliance (eg: illegal operations) will attract the attention of Federal law enforcement as the tone has certainly changed. Assuming that is correct, does that not in turn mirror our policy in Canada whereby law enforcement has been told to charge and shut down illegal production and dispensary operations? The financial and political costs to defy the State supremacy in this matter would outweigh whatever short-term gain one thought could be achieved by prosecuting lawful compliant businesses.

So how does one interpret it his actions? January 4th the indexes rose and that is the answer. The real question is what did you do. Did you panic sell at losses? Did you sell at the open only to buy back lower later? Did you not sell and only buy? Or did you just hold and wait it out? If you panic sold at losses or some other action that has you filled with regret then you need to explore why you took the action you did. From a big picture perspective was it likely the US Administration would take on so many States, Corporations, and Individuals who all have been acting in full lawful compliance and in some cases for years? All that really changed was the tone. Rolling Stone’s coverage was hard hitting.

Please be careful. Do your due diligence always. And remember, when confronted by those that say it is too late to invest in this industry because it is maturing simply ask them “how can it be too late when the real ride may not have even started”? If everyone thought that way no one would invest in any company in any industry as surely the banking industry in Canada is mature. Be mindful of companies with valuations that defy reason and companies that appear to be built only on promises of things to come.
