Consider this strategy, if you usually make an RRSP contribution and receive a refund why not gross it up. If you typically contribute $3,000 to your RRSP and you're in a 40% tax bracket, you would get a refund of $1,200 ( usually spent). Why not borrow $2,000 and contribute $5,000 to your RRSP. When you received your refund of $2,000 a few months later, you can pay back the short term loan you made to yourself — effectively increasing your RRSP savings and building on your future.
