INDEX PROFILE The U.S. Marijuana Index saw its largest one-day gain over the last year of 13% on January 2nd, the first trading day after California’s new legal cannabis market opened on January 1st. The U.S. Index subsequently saw its largest ever one-day drop of 21% when the Cole Memo was rescinded on January 4th. The U.S. Index increased 8% for the month. The United States Marijuana Index and Canadian Marijuana Index track the leading cannabis stocks operating in the U.S. and Canada. Constituents must have a business strategy focused on the marijuana or hemp industry. ` The Canadian markets continued its impressive streak early in the month, as the Canadi- an Marijuana Index gained 49% in the first six trading days of 2018, before paring some of those gains in the second week of the month, ending the month up 22%.
