You’re exactly right. I think the industry as whole focuses too much on fees. The real focus should always be on value. While I agree some investors are getting little value from their existing advisor, the studies show a good advisor will have a marked increase in a clients wealth and financial health. Everybody can use a coach! I would suggest an investor interview an advisor and see if there is a fit. Ask them pointed questions about their investment philosophy and how they operate their practice. It's your money at the end of the day. Investors really need to look at the relationship as a partnership.
