and so forth. What if that same restaurant was red carded for what would be your worst kitchen nightmare? Quality and Quality Assurance go hand in hand in the legal cannabis industry in Canada to ensure there are no such “red cards” through the entire chain of custody (seed to sale). Yes there have been deviations but those are the exceptions are corrected. The few instances where illegal pesticides were found in use were at levels well below the acceptable maximum amounts. That does not condone the illegal application of pesticides such as myclobutanil by a licensed cultivator/producer, but rather highlights that instances of such use are not only extremely rare but are caught early and rectified. Now let’s return to that CBC article …

The statement made by that not for profit’s president suggesting superior quality of cannabis throughout the black market were met with posts stating facts with links such as to this recent BBC article depicting dangerous levels of fecal matter in street cannabis. A subsequent post included an article closer to home and one that we brought to your attention in 2016 – the groundbreaking study undertaken by the Globe & Mail on black market cannabis obtained from some of the most reputable sources of that time (ie: black market said to be of higher quality). That article went beyond testing for fecal matter (and yes it was present) and found dangerous levels of bacteria as well as chemical. In some cases, the illegal pesticides were above the maximum acceptable levels.

Rather than take this opportunity to plainly and clearly state and acknowledge that there are some very bad characters in the black market plaguing this industry but that there also some very well meaning people who are truly wanting to supply a superior quality cannabis and experience and that these people should be allowed to operate in the legal framework - the president of that not for profit simply went on the offensive name calling and slandering anyone who posted these facts and links to reputable third party sources. This not for profit president attempted to discredit the sources named in the article with dismissive statements not backed by science or fact.
