Using Weight Watchers (WW) is also a good comparison as it has stood the test of time and is rooted in evidence based nutritional valuations. For the longest time, governments and health practitioners were promoting a diet and lifestyle that has since come into question and in fact many suggest is a driving force behind modern “epidemics” such as obesity and insulin resistance (which could lead to type 2 diabetes). It was not long ago that smoking was deemed acceptable and in fact there were ads depicting doctors who preferred one brand over another such as this ad stating that doctors prefer Camel brand cigarettes. For thousands of years we looked to the skies and realized that everything was in motion yet for most of that time we believed that everything was in motion other than Earth – everything revolved around our planet. Simple logic would suggest that if everything was in motion than so is the Earth yet the contrary was accepted as fact. The notion the earth was flat (not a globe) also existed for most of our civilized existence and still has followers to this day. This recent article’s title says it all - Only Two-Thirds Of American Millennials Believe The Earth Is Round.

Is it therefore a stretch to appreciate how easy it is for those with less than benign intentions to work their craft to manipulate prospective and current investors? Is it a reach to compare fad diet plans and lifestyles with actors who attack plans that promote wellness and healthy lifestyles (such as Weight Watchers) to those who spread misinformation about cannabis? Is it really that far out there to compare the ongoing growth of Weight Watchers including globally to what I coined as the Renaissance Insurgency that is the growth of the legal cannabis industry fueled by awareness, education, acceptance, and science?

The market has been unkind to the shares of several companies of late – seems to be an annual summer tradition but time will tell. When a company is rocked by scandal (and I am sure we can all think one right now) there is not much one could have done and that is where true financial health comes in to play. Do not put all of your eggs in one basket and strive to be properly diversified. Were investors in CannTrust (for example) constantly monitoring news and share prices or did they just set it and forget it? Healthy people focus on being healthy and it is just part of their daily routine and financial health is no different. There are of course two other reasons why I used Weight Watchers as my example.
