DAY 1 Fly to Anchorage
On arrival , make your way to your hotel and the rest of the day is at leisure to relax . If time allows , perhaps visit the Alaska Botanical Garden or take a trolley tour . This evening , sample fresh Alaska ingredients at one of the many restaurants and bars or take in a dinner theatre .
DAY 2 Anchorage / Seward
Make your way to the train station early this morning . This four hour scenic train journey takes you along Cook Inlet and into the glacier filled Kenai Mountains , so sit back and soak up the incredible views . Upon arrival in Seward , take the hotel shuttle bus to your hotel and the remainder of the day is yours to relax . Alternatively , you may wish to visit the Alaska SeaLife Centre , take a kayaking tour or a trip to Exit Glacier ( all extra cost ).
DAY 3 Seward / Kenai Fjords National Park / Seward
Today , enjoy a six hour cruise of Kenai Fjords National Park . The park boasts abundant wildlife , alpine and tidewater glaciers , and breathtaking scenery . Be sure to keep watch for wildlife , such as Stellar sea lions , seals , puffins , eagles , and whales . You will also stop in front of the glacier to hear it moving and may even be fortunate enough to see ice fall into the ocean , so keep your camera ready .
DAY 4 Seward / Talkeetna
Depart mid-morning by scheduled bus to Talkeetna , a small , funky , turn of the 20th century gold mining town which has retained much of its early Alaska flavour .
DAY 5 Talkeetna / Denali
The majority of the day is free to explore Talkeetna . Explore downtown where its main street is lined with historic buildings , shops , art galleries and restaurants . Perhaps try some of the varied outdoor activities including hiking , boat , and flightseeing trips ? This evening , depart by scheduled bus to Denali and on arrival take the hotel shuttle bus to your hotel which is in the Denali Park entrance area .
DAY 6 Denali National Park
Discover Denali National Park on a narrated bus tour , which is around 4-6 hours long and takes you approximately 30-43 miles into the park ( depending on weather and road conditions ). Absorb the pristine wilderness , and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife , such as bears , caribou , and moose , as well as views of the impressive Mt Denali .
DAY 7 Denali / Anchorage
Make the most of a free morning to enjoy some of the park ’ s optional activities ( extra cost ). Depart early this afternoon on the Alaska Railroad to Anchorage , and on arrival this evening , make your own way to your hotel .
DAY 8 Anchorage Make your way to the airport for your onward journey .
