Tweedsmuir Park Lodge
Western Canada- Great Bear Rainforest

Great Bear Rainforest

A sublime ecological wonder
Stretching for almost 16 million acres along British Columbia’ s central and northern coast from the northern tip of Vancouver Island to the Alaskan border, this magnificent rainforest is the largest intact coastal temperate rainforest on earth. It’ s a realm of dewy forest, old-growth trees, babbling rivers, snowcapped mountains, jagged rockfaces and deep valleys, which host a staggering variety of wildlife, including grizzly bears and the iconic Kermode or‘ Spirit’ Bear, a black bear with all-white fur. The annual salmon run is another of nature’ s spectacular migrations, drawing wildlife to the rivers to feed and playing a crucial role in the ecosystem’ s long-term survival. Bella Coola, on the central coast, is an adventure hub offering visitors numerous activities including hiking, fishing, rafting, flightseeing, heli-skiing and wildlife viewing. See also the ancient petroglyphs of the Nuxalk Nation or visit the vast Tweedsmuir Provincial Park.
