Last month Ayrshire
College celebrated
being 12 months
away from opening
the doors of its new
campus in Kilmarnock,
by hosting a special
ceremony at the
Hill Street site. The
campus has been
progressing at a
steady rate since
work began in June
2014 and will be
ready for students in
September 2016.
A time capsule,
filled with items
from college staff
and students as well
as members of the
local community, will
be built into the new
building to preserve
this moment in time
for future generations.
The ceremony
officially started
the ‘one year to go’
campus countdown.
A ticker showing
exactly how long is
left until the opening
of the campus is
displayed on the
College website.
SCAN FOR SITE
Every month for the
next eleven months,
new facilities for a
different subject area
will be revealed on the
website, giving current
and prospective
students the chance to
see how their area will
be enhanced by the
move to the new site.
HEATHER DUNK
PRINCIPAL
SAID
This project
was a dream in 2008
and over time we
persuaded lots of
people to invest in
Kilmarnock. Supported
by investment
from the Scottish
Government of £53
million, the project has
moved from design
to construction in just
two years.
Eleven months
from now we’ll be
welcoming thousands
of students to this
fabulous new campus.
The building project
has already created
opportunities for
students, including
apprenticeships and
work placements.
