UTS divesting
from fossil fuels
University plans move as part of
establishing an ‘ethical fund’.

he University of Technology Sydney has indicated it will
commit to fossil fuel divestment by the end of the year.
In a public University Council meeting, acting chancellor
professor Brian Wilson responded to a question asking if UTS
would commit to divestment by the end of 2016 with, “I think I can
be reasonably confident … the answer is, ‘Yes we will do that.’ “
Wilson then said, “We are having discussions [with Treasury] about
[maintaining an ethical fund] and I make the point that, for UTS, it’s not
