A
report predicts that Charles Darwin University, Western
Sydney University and Federation University may challenge
Australia’s old and elite universities by 2030.
The Class of 2030 report, from higher education consulting
firm Firetail, argued there is a new generation of universities that
will “take advantage of disruptive global trends that create unique
opportunities for innovation”. The ingredients for success, the
report outlined, are local and global relevance, aligning strategy
with the university’s culture, and academic entrepreneurship. The
report cautioned, however, that success depends on meticulously
well-thought out strategy and flawless execution.
