WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BRAZIL 1963
After several months of worry William Jones could finally breathe easily as the Brazilian captain,
Marques, was handed the trophy confirming them as world champions. The tournament had had
a terrible start but finished as being a complete success thanks to the presence of four great
teams, highly capable organisation and an enthusiastic public. Unfortunately FIBA missed the
opportunity of designating a European country as host for the next edition as several were
prepared to take the challenge on. Uruguay was the selected nation and the troubles began again.
